(22nd August) Stuart Tait Cup seeds 1-16 Well
the summer league is over and the king is dead long live the king congratulation go to our new summer league champion
Davie Nisbet who over came a gallant challenge from Colin Robertson who had to settle for runner's up spot as he
did last season as well but a good final with Davie coming out on top with a 7 games to 4 victory. Semi finalists
were Graham Boreland of East Calder and Lorne Mitchell of Carmondean. A good crowd watched the finals on the night and
a list below is how the prize structure went Champion Dave Nisbet £250, Colin Robertson £125, Lorne Mitchell
£50, Graham Boreland £50, Jimmy Woods £30, Stevie Scott £30, John Rooney £30, Gordon Bruce

Plate
Competition seeds 17-24 The competition for the 17th to 24th seeds was also a very hard fought affair with Wullie
Jack of the Paraffin Lamp Ruffnecks just edging out Harthill's top marksman Jimmy Quinn in a real cracker
of a match. Making the semi finals were the Outlaw Colin Kelly still here on his sabbatical from the Australian
penile colonies! and West Calder's Colin Hammy Hamilton. Prize structure went like this for the Plate competition. Wullie Jack 1.5 litre of Smirnoff Vodka, Jimmy Quinn bottle of Grouse whisky, Colin Kelly and Colin Hamilton case of
Belhaven Best apiece, John Kirk, Bob Hall and Martin Deegan a pack of Hobgoblin Beers which just by chance had
pictures Martin Deegan on them through the ages!!!!!
A few recorded scores from the evening's entertainment Colin the Outlaw Kelly 12 darter. Old Man Mitchell 12 darter. Lorne Mitchell 10 darter. Gordon THE Bruce 10 dart game.Colin
the Marshall Robertson 2 x 11 and 12 dart games 76 & 87 game shots. Jimmy Quinn on target with a maximum 180.
Davie Nisbet 124 game shot and 10-11-12 dart games. John Rooney nice 7 darter followed by an 11 dart leg. Colin Hamilton
rock solid 80 game shot. Graham Boreland excellent 115 take out.
And after all is said and done I on
a personal note would like to say a big thank you to Diane and her very hard working staff at the Paraffin Lamp for
helping make this a fabulous competition. I know that Diane is looking forward to having more darts extravaganzas in
her hostelry and I am sure the dart players if what I have heard from feed back is they will be back! So to Diane
and Jillian who entered the competition and played each week here is a big kiss XXX from the darts players. And
to all the ladies who worked so hard behind the bar thank-you for making us all feel so welcome X And let us not
forget a big thank you to both Frank and Stuart who looked after the competition on the night. And our sponsor of
the new trophy a cracking silver cup from Mr Stuart Tait of Taits Electrical and Plumbing.
Jim Mitchell Organiser
West Lothian Summer League.
MONDAY NIGHT PLAY OFFS (15th-August) Well
for a while Lorne Mitchell's 7 dart game of 301 double start is still the fastest recorded this season so far? On Monday night another Mitchell the older good looking one knocked in 32-57-57-60-57-38 for the best you can do a
six dart 301 UNFORTUNATELY it took him three throws to get started and they say it is
all about timing! Drat Drat and double drat. Along with a 155 check out a 112 finish was also recorded
by Old Man Mitchell John Skippy Charleston also on the score sheet with a nice 11 darter to his credit.
MONDAY NIGHT DARTS (8th August) And
were there not one or two sweating palms on show at the penultimate week of the singles matches. lot at stake for some
players and we wont know until next week the damage that has been done to one or two players expectations! Some
top scoring came by way of Ian Stewart cracking 177. Colin Hamilton nice 11 dart game as was Kyle Gilmour taking the
same number of arrows. Kirk Gordon matching the second quickest game of the season so far excellent 8 dart game remembering
that Colin Robertson hit two 8 darters last week but still hanging on in there with the fastest recorded game this season
Lorne Mitchell 7 darts takes a bit of topping that one but I am sure some players will have there eye on putting in a
perfect 6 darter in the finals! Only recorded perfect 6 darter came from youth International Frank Quinn from Armadale
three seasons ago now. Colin Robertson 9 dart game. Grant Lyle 11 darter and Young Graham Boreland knocking in
9+10 dart games. Our outlaw friend Colin Kelly nice 11+12 darters who is still trying to get enough money to get back
to the Australian penile colonies!!! Gordon THE Bruce rock solid with a 12 dart game. Colin Hamilton solid 78 check
out. Big G or known simply as Geordie Dryburgh from Old Deans Village 98+86 check outs. Derek Bird finishing 98 in two
darts.Grant Lyle 90 take out. Graham Boreland lovely 145 finish and quickly followed by a 110 checkout. Colin Kelly
getting his aim on target with a classic 100 game shot and a 96 take out.
Now the league tables have been updated
and there are still a few mathematically probabilities to be played out next week so please if you know of a player
who has outstanding games yet to be played could you remind them that even if they cant qualify they could be hurting
someone who they have to play by not giving them a chance to get points on the league table. Now even players who
are in the top section of their leagues should turn up and play remember the first 16 players are seeded so if you are
at the top of the table you will play the number 16 seed and so on second seed will play 15th seed. After the first
round the names will go back into the hat(supplied by me) and the draw will be redrawn again and so on right up to the
final. Hopefully I can entice someone who is not playing in the final to run the competition so everything is and
will be above board. If you get my drift! Now should there be players sitting on the same points example three players
joint 16th they will play off in a good old fashioned money race, We have had them before the players would throw
for the bull and in the order that was nearest the bulls eye a good old fashioned 1001 game would be played off and the
winner would go in at number 16 and the others the Plate trophy. Don't worry we have had then in the past and
they are fun to watch maybe not to play in but good spectator viewing.
CRUNCH TIME LOOMS AHEAD(1st August) Well
with only one week of regulation play left in the Summer League for players to pick up their bonus points it is touch
and go in some of the leagues as to who will qualify for the finals. There is one league in particular where seven players
are only separated by eight points apart from that leagues leader it is all to play for in the Pirates league. Other leagues also have some very close points tally's with the extra five bonus points are very important to
say the least. Now please remember the top 4 players in each league go into the grand final. Once those top 24 players
have qualified from their various leagues the players will all be be put onto a league table with the player at
the top being the number one seed and the player with the second highest points total the second seed and so on. When the top 16 places have been filled those players will be playing for some serious cash.
The top 16 players
are playing for prize fund off £250 Champion. £125 Second place. semi finalists 2x£50. Quarter finalists
4x£30. and last sixteen 8x£20
However the 8 players who are not in the top 16 that is players ranked
17-24 will play off their own Plate tournament their prizes are A 1.5 litre of Smirnoff vodka for the winner a bottle
of Scotch for the runner up. Case of beer each for the two semi finalists. And for the four players losing out
in the quarter finals there will be a a few drinks for them to either drown their sorrows or toast their opponents which
ever!
Now there is still one week of regulation play left and a week for catch up games as well and of course the Grand Final hopefully if four more football cards can be sold at the three remaining weeks we can raise
£40 this will enable me to get the last of the prizes and leave enough for the engraving for the Silver
Cup. Which has been donated by Stuart Tait Electrics. So a big thank-you to Stuart for this superb trophy
which will be played for annually. Also to Diane boss lady of the Paraffin Lamp for the first prize of £250. Many thnks to this publican who is certainly trying to get darts on the map in this part of the country. And as
in the last trophy if you win it four times it will be yours to keep so lets see who can get their name on it first shall we!
HOT SHOTS FROM THE SUMMER LEAGUE (1st August) Knocking
in to excellent 8 dart games we had Colin Robertson strutting his stuff on the ocky. Also from the Dovehill Highway Men
John Rooney was getting in on the act with 11 and 2x12 dart games to go onto his tally for the season so far. Davie
Nisbet certainly a player to look out for in the final analysis was at it again another superb check out nice 151 kill
this time Davie also on target with a cracking 9 darter as well. Gordon Bruce 4 x 12 dart games. Graeme Bird nice 11+12
dart games. Ian Stewart cracking 10 dart game keeping his form going from Saturdays Grand Prix competition. Talking
about checkouts we had Grant Lyle finishing in style with a superb 140 finish. John Rooney nice 105 take out. Stevie
Scott the man who really tries to grow a mature beard! finishes with a nice 104 check out. And Gordon Bruce finishing
a solid 96 game shot. Special mentions go to Ian Stewart with two fabulous 160 check in's.

sporting like manner. Can I take this opportunity to say to (Mary Walker. Isi Kay. Lah. Marie Weir. Denise

Wood got through at the expense of Captain Marvel John Grant of the Tower Bar Knights. Colin Robertson winning through

getting passed Rex Brady from Bathgate who if I am hearing correctly is a real hot shot on the green baize top pool
player so i believe. Jim Quinn from Harthill a quiet but very deadly darts player goes through to the next round at the

SUMMER LEAGUE NOTES! Some
terrific darts thrown by so many players the standard was excellent through out the finals. With the three previous champions
in the field of 32 players. Mitchell 2005-07-09 Bob Hall 2006 Colin Robertson 2008 there was always the chance they would
play each other. But with the redraw being favourable it took until the final before any of these players came into
contact with one another. And truth be told Old Man Mitchell may have to rename himself as Lucky Old Man Mitchell. Jim Wood had many chances to put Mitchell to bed but did not take them. Shaun Robertson at 2-1 up and with darts
to go even further ahead but did not take them either. But thats Darts! There were a couple players who were especially
outstanding on the night Scott the Killer Cameron from the Paraffin Lamp Roughnecks was outstanding through out
the competition. As was the Quiet man from Harthill Jim Quinn this man has been playing good darts recently is very
quiet spoken but lets his arrows do his talking for him. Once again Shaun Robertson is showing his class with out doubt the most improved player in the league over the last two seasons it cant be long now before he makes a move on some
of the leagues top singles titles. Other players playing superb arrows are the trio from the East Calder Doo Club Graham Boreland. Paul Weir and Graham Bird (sorry Marie your in the ladies section) The Bathgate players Stevie Brown
. Jim Woods. Rex Brady showed great darting skill throughout the competition. County players who left their 501
game behind to take part in this old fashioned way of playing 301 double start Colin Hamilton.Chris Forsyth. Colin
Robertson.Skippy Charleston. John Heughan. Bob Hall. Martin Deegan. To name just a few! And of coarse
last but not least to EVERY DART PLAYER who competed this season thank you without your participation this competition
would not even get of the starting blocks. If you have enjoyed it hopefully will see you next season god willing. Cheers Jim
